Libertarian Party of New York Field Development Committee
The Libertarian Party of New York's Field Development Committee is tasked with facilitating the creation and growth of local affiliates. The committee has been known as the Chapter Development Committee and Local Affiliate Development Committee and was created on April 25, 2015. This was the name that was used under the Free Libertarian Party, Inc. The current iteration of the committee was created on February 9, 2019.
History
In 2015, an effort to create new county chapters of the Libertarian Party of New York was the focus of the platform of the newly elected State Chair, Mark Glogowski. Phil Ricci was the first chair of the committee, but only served for a few months. Jim Rosenbeck became chair of the committee and expanded its role in building the party. Mark Potwora and Tony D'Orazio became members of this committee at this time. Rosenbeck served as Chair until 2018, when he was elected State Chair. Mark Potwora chaired the committee beginning on May 6, 2018. At one point, the committee was considered a subcommittee of the Outreach Divsion.
When the Libertarian Party of New York obtained ballot access at the 2018 election, the structure of the party changed. Since the party became a ballot access party, chapters would no longer be formed. When the Interim State Committee first convened on February 9, 2019, the committee became known under its current name, the Local Affiliate Development Committee. Potwora processed paperwork for counties to become Interim County Organizations. When the newly-elected State Committee took office in September 2020, Rob Arrigo was appointed chair of the Local Affiliate Development Committee, succeeding Potwora.
