This page is intended to document the history of the official affiliate, no matter what name it is called.

The Libertarian Party of New Mexico (LPNM in party bylaws[1]) is the New Mexico affiliate of the Libertarian Party. It was affiliated on 11/25/72 at the LNC Meeting 25 November 1972 as per Document:LP News 1972 November Issue 11.

Founding

The Libertarian Party of New Mexico articles of incorporation were filed with the State of New Mexico on June 27, 1972 with Diana Amsden, Maurice McDonald and Sidney Light listed as incorporators and original directors. It filed its rules and regulations on August 8, 1972. On January 12, 1978, it was removed as a qualified party due not participating in the 1976 and 1978 elections.

The first convention of the Libertarian Party of New Mexico took place in Albuquerque, NM on July 22, 1972 at the Western Skies Hotel. Diana Amsden was interim chairman at the convention, but Gail Tawney presided.

The convention elected Maurice McDonald as Chair, Diana Amsden as Vice-Chair for Administration, Edward Carlson as Vice-Chair for Platform, Robert White as Treasurer, Gail Tawney as Secretary, Robin Tawney as Publicity Committee Chair, and Rick Talley as Membership Committee Chair.
