Gary Earl Johnson (born 1 January 1953) is a former Republican governor of New Mexico and the Libertarian Party's 2012 and 2016 candidate for President of the United States. Johnson founded one of New Mexico's largest construction companies. In 2020, he was inducted into the Hall of Liberty.

2018 New Mexico US Senate Campaign
On July 29 2018, Aubrey Dunn, the Libertarian Party of New Mexico nominee for US Senate, withdrew from the race. During his withdrawal, Dunn encouraged (and endorsed) Gary Johnson to enter the race. [2]
On August 14 2018, Gary Johnson filed to run for US Senate with the New Mexico Secretary of State.[3]
