Trent Somes, III (Theodore Arthur Somes, III, born 24 April 1998) was one of the youngest Libertarian Party leaders in the US. Somes started Westmoreland County Libertarians in 2015 under the direction of the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania at age 17, and the Libertarian Youth Caucus.

Somes garnered media attention when WCL was mentioned in a press release from the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania.[1][2][3]

Westmoreland County currently has over 1,300 registered Libertarian voters.[2]

At the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania convention in 2016, Somes, along with other youth, founded the Libertarian Youth Caucus, which quickly rose to be a well-known organization.

While on the LNC, Somes was influential with the creation of the #ReRegister national voting drive, the first of its kind for the Party. He was also the coordinator for the Gary Johnson for President campaign in Westmoreland County.

In 2018, Trent resigned his post on the LNC and after running the election of new officers to the Libertarian Youth Caucus, he resigned his Libertarian Party membership and joined the Democratic Party and has since become a committeeman on the Washington County Democratic Executive Committee.
