Dr. Stephen G. "Steve" Becker is a Libertarian Party activist. He is the current Chair of the Monroe County Libertarian Party. He was a delegate to the 2018 National Convention.

Biography

Becker has been an activist in the Libertarian Party since the 1980s. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he was an Editor of Rochester Libertarian. He was a Presidential Elector for New York State in 1988 for Ron Paul, in 1996 for Harry Browne, and 2008 for Bob Barr.

Becker has served on the State Committee several times. He was a Member-At-Large from 2002 to 2003 and 2009 to 2010. He was elected as the State Representive for the Monroe County Libertarian Party, serving from March/April 2015 to March 18, 2017. During that time, the Monroe chapter was split off from the Greater Rochester Libertarian Party, in which Becker originally represented. He was a member of the LPNY's Interim State Committee from 2019 to 2020, and elected to the State Committee under ballot access, serving since September 27, 2020.

On August 23, 2020, he was elected Chair of the Monroe County Libertarian Party after Kevin Wilson declined to run for another term.

Becker has also served as a delegate to Libertarian National Conventions (2016, 2018, 2020, and 2022).

He is the father of Erin Becker and Rachel Becker, who have both served on the State Committee and as county leaders.
