LPedia talk:Category Planning
Added some more top-level categories.
- Issues or Issues and Philosophy - this would be to have things like ballot access, the meaning of the Pledge...
- Lists - lists are an important part that I think needs its own master category.
- Publications - this seems obvious.
- General Information and Resources - not as obvious but like where we would put articles about other LP archives though perhaps this could be under organizations.
What about Definitions? Do we have a need for a general History category? Where would Platforms, Bylaws etc go, or is it just under Documents?

Lists
Bootstrap lists, including the List of Lists are overhead and should fall under LPedia, not be a top level item; most lists are of the bootstrap variety. -- Strangelv (talk) 00:55, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
- Not all lists, like this one. AMK152 (talk) 00:56, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
- Correct, many are not maintenance or overhead but are part of the "encyclopedia. CarynAnnHarlos (talk) 02:58, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
- Doing this consistently will require promoting (and probably tidying up) a number of bootstrap lists. -- Strangelv (talk) 21:48, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
Places
Do we have any articles that would fall under this? Someone created state name categories, but I'm unsure how they were meant to be used. If this is something someone wants to do, is it known what is intended to be included with these articles? -- Strangelv (talk) 21:48, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
MFucci is helping
As discussed last meeting, Michael is putting everything under one of the main sub-categories we determined. Then we need to work out from there. CarynAnnHarlos (talk) 18:01, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
Projects
Some of the stuff I'll be working on over the next couple of years, in case you want to take it into your category planning:
- State and county party revenue. That will go on the state pages, but eventually I'll combine it with national party revenue and Presidential and perhaps other candidate revenue to give as complete of a picture of LP fundraising ability as possible. I don't know what category that combined revenue would fall under.
- LNC reports (region reports, membership reports, etc.) There doesn't seem to be an organized archive of them anywhere, which is odd. I've tracked down more than a hundred membership reports so far.
- Presidential debate videos. I've found links to two dozen Presidential or Vice-Presidential general election debates, convention debates, and pre-convention debates, back to 1991. The LP might want to save copies of those, if it doesn't already have them, before they get deleted from other sources.
- And I'll probably never do this, but if this is going to be more like a library, it might include advertisement and outreach campaigns. TV, radio, newspaper, magazine, ads or ad campaign strategies from either the national party, a state party, or a candidate. Project Archimedes isn't even mentioned on lpedia right now, as far as I can tell.
