misnamed files
I don't believe the 1990 Platform file should be listed here or have a name containing "LP News". The fact that it was printed in tabloid format doesn't make it LP News -- I'm pretty sure the idea was to have something that could be mailed independently. I'm guessing it just somehow got placed in the same box so got scanned with the LP News. I suppose it is possible that a copy was included with an issue of LP News that year, as a kind of sample, and perhaps it was even referred to in that issue ("enclosed with this issue is a copy of the updated platform" or such). But if that's what actually happened, then I suggest that it be merged with the main file for that issue. (It can also be kept as a separate file, showing another way that the platform was presented, but that file should be named accordingly.) JWD3 (talk) 00:33, 28 February 2018 (CST)
The file "LPNews_1980-9.pdf" does not appear to be an issue of LP News. It was not titled as such, contains none of the usual features of LP News, and specifically says it was put out by the Clark campaign. It should be renamed and a link to it placed in an article about the Clark campaign. JWD3 (talk) 14:03, 1 March 2018 (CST)
Categories
Main Page -> Publications -> Libertarian Party Publications -> National Libertarian Party Publications -> National Libertarian Party Newsletters -> LP News (category) -> LP News Page.
That is a frustratingly large number of categories to wade through before finding actual information.
And the shorter alternatives like:
Maine Page -> browse the entire category tree -> Lists - LP News Page
And
Maine Page -> Most Wanted -> LP News Page
Are just obscure.
These categories can be tightened up by dropping LP News (category) and putting all of those links on the LP News Page and eliminating National Libertarian Party Newsletters so that the LP News page can be arrived at from National Libertarian Party Publications.
The categories for state party publications are an even bigger mess.
Main Page -> Publications -> Libertarian Party Publications -> State Libertarian Party Publications
That takes you to the Connecticut and Virginia news letters, which I think makes sense, as it's on the same path as LP News. But then,
Main Page -> Publications -> Party Newsletters -> Newsletters by State -> + 2 more clicks gets you to the newsletters from California, Colorado, Missouri, and Washington.
Why have "Party Newsletters" distinct from "Newsletters by State" unless there is going to be a National Libertarian Party Newsletters Category? But wait... there is. It just comes under "National Libertarian Party Publications, rather than "Party Newsletters". Which makes Party Newsletters and Newsletters by State pointless. Are state party newsletters not state party publications? Why have separate paths for them?
And why doesn't the Liberty Pledge page follow Main Page -> Publications -> Libertarian Party Publications -> National Libertarian Party Publications ?
The only way to get to Liberty Pledge page right now is Maine Page -> Most Wanted -> Liberty Pledge or Maine Page -> Liberty Pledge
I don't know. I guess that's the problem with multiple people independently working on things like this. AJPEG (talk) 02:59, 20 June 2018 (CDT)
