Steven Nekhaila is a Libertarian Party activist and entrepreneur, renowned for his contributions both in politics and business. He is currently an At-Large Representative on the Libertarian National Committee and previously held the position of Chair of the Libertarian Party of Florida until 2023, demonstrating his commitment to political activism. As a lifelong resident of the Florida Keys, Nekhaila's roots run deep in the community. Growing up in Islamorada before moving to Key West, he has built a strong local presence. In Key West, he lives with his wife Jelena and daughter Lana.
Nekhaila's entrepreneurial spirit is evident in his management of twelve businesses in the hospitality and restaurant industry. His ventures include the Wendy’s franchises from Key West to Marathon, the Dairy Queen in Tavernier, the Island Grill in Islamorada, and a Movie Theater in Tavernier. These establishments collectively employ over 250 people, reflecting his significant impact on the local economy. In Key West, he is affectionately known as the “Wendy’s guy,” a nod to his success in delivering fast, quality, and value-oriented food to both locals and tourists.
His experience in business administration and operations has given him a unique perspective on the vibrant and critical hospitality industry of the Florida Keys. In addition to his business achievements, Nekhaila also played a significant role in the Libertarian National Committee as the Region 2 Representative. His political engagement further extended to his participation as a delegate for the Libertarian Party of Florida at the 2018 National Convention, showcasing his dedication to libertarian principles and party activities.
