Miller was a Libertarian candidate for the Texas Railroad Commission in 2016. Despite its name, the primary responsibility of the Texas Railroad Commission is to regulate the oil and gas industry in Texas.
Miller earned the endorsement of several major Texas newspapers.
Miller received 462,251 of 8,760,238 total votes (5.3%), exceeding the threshold of 5% to retain ballot access for the Libertarian Party of Texas.
