The NCBA is a first amendment (political) organization whose special concerns are hard money, constitutional law, and home education. More about them will be in the Augu. 1 issue of COLO LIBERTY.
Bid TRIAL with NCBA as Plaintiff & IRS as defendants starts July 7 at Federal Court house. NCBA alledges violation of First Amendment Rights by IRS -- would you believe? Come and see and cheer for the good guys.

You will also be happy to know that as of the last board meeting we had a treasury balance of approximately $1300, and so will be publishing the Colorado Liberty again. Articles are requested. Lacking Articles from youse guys, the pages will be filled with whatever the editor and myself think is gud stuff.

The People's Fair panned out well earning a total of $87.53 in votes on how well government does. We had an information booth, and in answer to the question "Does Government do a good job?" Fairgoers, voting with money, voted as follows. 'ALWAYS' got 3 cents, and the 3 closest to 'NEVER' got over $65.00
Dave Aitken's booth for his campaign at the fair, netted $65.00. Dave kept better scores and found that 47% was for never, rarely & seldom were 37%, the balance got 16%. Dave's petition drive for ballot access starts June 24, anybody wishing to help can call Dave Daniels 830-8125 or Dave Aitken at 861-3031.
For you collectors of paper, historians, and persons interest in detail and the latest party 'line', the Revised edition of the Colorado Party platform and bylaws is available at a cost of $1.50. Mail money with with your request to CLP headquarters, 2186 So. Holly, Denver Colo. And speaking of the Party, membership no longer requires that a person sign the statement renouncing the initiation of force. You may, just like the "big boys" be a party member without renouncing the initiation of the use of force. However, in order to be a national member or an OFFICER of the Colorado Libertarian Party, we, unlike they, do require you to sign a statement which renounces the initiation of the use of force.

Contained in the NatComm's Resolution #53, from October 1977 is the following phrase on 'Purpose':
""...appropriate to our status as a national party aiming to become a new majority."
For those of you who are interested, the Minutes of the last National Libertarian party National Committee meeting will be kept on file at the office. This document is a detailed report of the governing body of the Party. It includes the most recent National Party End of Month Financial Reports financial statements, the April internal report, Ballot Access Committee Report, the National Director evaluation of the Party's current condition, and a compilation of all current Nat Comm resolutions.
HELP!! HELP!! HELP!! HELP!! HELP!!
As mentioned above, Colorado Liberty is once again coming out. In addition to articles, we can also use Ad's , and I bet that Kate would Not mind have persons volunteer. Her number again is 830-1401.
Can anybody help with clerical stuff? Penn needs a person to volunteer one morning a month.
We can help someone. If you would like to use an office in exchange for answering the phone and a nominal monthly fee, contact Dave Daniels about sharing the Party office, and having it almost all to yourself during the day.
AND OF COURSE. We can always use your money. If you can afford it please pledge support and/or join the party as a paying member. Our fore-fathers, and mothers, pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to give us the freedoms we take for granted. Can you Pledge 1/2 of your weekly (pink one - twinkee, chocolate, cigarettes, beer) ration to help maintain them. A good way to do this is to have a jar, and every time you purchase one of the pledged items, put a matching amount in the jar.
==*****TAX LIMITATION AMENDMENT*****
A non partisan group has formed to place the following amendment on the ballot in the November election.
AN AMENDMENT TO THE COLORADO CONSTITUTION PROHIBITING NEW OR INCREASED STATE OR LOCAL TAXES WITHOUT THE APPROVAL. AT A BIENNIAL ELECTION, OF THE VOTERS OF THE UNIT OF GOVERNMENT PROPOSING OR INCREASING THE TAX, AND REQUIRING THE STATE TO PROVIDE THE FUNDS FOR ANY INCREASE IN SPENDING IT MANDATES FOR A POLITICAL SUBDIVISION.
Libertarians already involved in this project are Sam Adams, Abe Zell, [Penn Pfiffner]], Doug Nusbaum, Mary Margaret, Grace Reed, Jerry Van Sickle, and Jeff Lloyd.
There are numerous other organizations involved in promoting this tax limitation proposal, among them, the Colorado Union of Taxpayers, and the Association of Colorado Taxpayers. The immediate goal is to obtain 70,2000 petition drive signatures. Steve Shoe is acting as a full time co-ordinator of the petition drive, and can be reached at American Furniture Warehouse by calling 292-0514. If you would be willing to complete a petition (40 signatures, and 1.5 hours of time), then please call and offer your assistance.
A few minutes of your time will surely save millions in state and local taxes in the future, and limit the growth of government and maybe, with inflation, begin to shrink same. Because of the broad base of support and the current sentiment opposing any tax increases, the support and the current sentiment opposing any tax increases, the proposed amendment is a sure bet to become law in November. We must, however, get it on the ballot. So, please contact Steve Shoe at 292-0514 and offer your support on behalf of the CLP, and all Colorado taxpayers.

Recently, a man who is disgruntled with the politics of hte existing parties heard that the Libertarians were backing the tax limitation initiative. "oh," he asked, ""does your party still exists? What are you doing these days?"
To stay visible we must keep our name before the voters. It has been suggested by several people that the Board put more effort into finding candidates for the top State-wide election spots.
Since we have only 94 current and lifetime members active, it does not take many noes' before we have no one else to whom to turn. Can you help by taking a lineholding position?
The following top spots which currentlty have no Libertarian presence and the associated number of signatures needed on a petition are:

Lineholders or semi-active candidates are all we need. The base strategy the Board could figure out was to emphasize local races. Foremost is David Aitken's, who is running to win a State House seat in district 6. He has formed a campaign committee, has met with community businesses and special interest groups, has started a fund-raising drive and is canvassing his neighborhood in an effort to garner wide support.
We are well aware that running an active campaign is a time-consuming and serious committment, but being a lineholder in your district is simple. If you will consent to a small petition drive and have your name placed on the ballot, that is all there is to it.
