Luke Spencer is the nominee of the Libertarian Party to represent the 18th Congressional District of Texas in the United States House of Representatives. The 2020 election will be his second time challenging incumbent Sheila Jackson Lee, whose been in office since 1995. In 2018, Spencer became the first Libertarian nominee to oppose Lee in six years. He also scored 4,067 votes, which gained 2.2 percent of the final tally. Out of four candidates, Spencer finished third. He defeated Vince Duncan, an Independent candidate. One of Spencer's main platforms is to end no-knock raids. Among others includes the protection of the Second Amendment and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. Other issues can be found on his website. Spencer is a graduate of The Woodlands High School and Texas State University, where he studied economics. Spencer is a fourth-generation Houstonian.
