This project entails reviewing national delegate lists day by day and extracting this information into biography pages.

Here are the uploaded lists that have not yet been mined:

Steps to Extract

Become familiar with the columns on the spreadsheet.

The items relevant to this project are:

  • Columns A-C: The full name of the individual
  • Column G: The home state of the individual
  • Column J: The state that is seating the individual (which may not be the same as the home state in column G)
  • Column K: Whether the individual is a delegate or an alternate delegate

*More recent delegate lists have additional potentially relevant data such as dates of arrival and departure.

The spreadsheets will look similar to the below image:

Start with the first name and search to determine if there is already an LPedia article for that individual

Note: General familiarity with the LPedia: Manual of Style and basic editing skills are presumed.

If an article already exists

Let's take Kevin Gulbranson as an example. In the screenshot below, you can see that he is listed as being a delegate at the 2012, 2016, and 2018 conventions sitting with Colorado twice and North Carolina once.

Create edits to the article to add the information similar to the above being sure to include the year and the state seating the delegate. If the delegate was an alternate please note that in parenthesis. You will also need to add the appropriate categories which will comprise two entries in the following format:

  • [[Category: INSERT YEAR National Convention Delegates]] or use the word "Alternates" instead of "Delegates" where appropriate
  • [[Category: INSERT STATE AND THEN YEAR National Convention Delegates]] or use the word "Alternates" instead of "Delegates" where appropriate
  • [[Category: Party Activists from the INSERT DECADE]] - if they span multiple decades use each of those categories
  • [[Category: INSERT HOME STATE Party Activists]]

If an article does not already exist

For Delegates seated with their own state

You will need to create a very minimal article along these lines:
