He also was an at-large member of the Board of Directors of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Virginia from July 2012 to September 2013.

Joshua Huffman was a member of the Republican Party from 1995 until he was expelled in February 2014. Having attended the Rocktown Libertarians for the last several years, he officially joined the Libertarian Party shortly thereafter.

In 2008, Joshua created a blog called The Virginia Conservative and has been writing regularly about politics since that time. Along with Andy Schmookler, he has been doing a monthly radio show about politics on 550 AM, WSVA since July 2013.

Joshua Huffman ran for a seat on the Harrisonburg City Council in the 2014 elections.

He was given charge of the Rocktown Libertarians in late 2016 when the previous leader, Marc Montoni, left for Colorado.

In the fall of 2017, Joshua Huffman plans to move to Morgantown, WV to pursue a doctorate degree in political science at West Virginia University. He hopes to get a cat soon.
